HOW OUR PRODUCT WORKS
Liposomes are vesicles made by one or more phospholipid bilayers, arranged concentrically and trapping aqueous phases between them. Due to their physicochemical properties, Liposomes have the ability to transport both hydrophilic molecules (soluble in water) in the trapped solution (called water “phase”) and hydrophobic molecules (not soluble in water) in the lipid membranes. Liposomes interact with cells in various mechanisms: fusion, endocytosis, adsorption and transfer of lipids between the cell membrane and the liposome membrane.
PROPERTIES AND COSMETIC USE:
Because of the above mentioned features, transporting substances using liposomes in cosmetic products, enhance their penetration through the stratum corneum, and therefore, improving the bioavalabiltity of the transported substances. The results achieved in thin skin regions (periocular and priory) are particularly striking in scope and speed.
Liposomes can transport substances soluble only in oils (i.e.: Vitamin E, Vitamin A, beta carotene, etc.) using aqueous suspensions, avoiding the use of emulsifiers, which are aggressive to the skin.
Due to cosmetic market requirements, only highly stable liposomes are suitable for it, because they must maintain their integrity for a long time. Moreover, they must have an adequate size. A size that allows them to pass through the stratum corneum and to reach the target cells, avoiding the bloodstream.
The Advantages Of Our Liposomes
Our Liposomes are different from other traditional liposomes, because they have almost the ideal characteristics to develop and manufacture cosmetic products.
They are produced using only purified phospholipids (97% purity) obtained from soy lecithin, with a predominant content of phosphatidylcholine. This ensures good skin penetration and low amount of lipid impurities, which make them to floc with time.
The concentration phospholipid used are between 5 and 15%, depending on their types. This concentration enables a high encapsulation of the active transported substances, and a lower volume production to incorporate the same amount of active substance in the final product.
The average size of our liposomes is between 100 and 500 nm. in diameter, which makes it a perfectly homogeneous material for easy inclusion in the formulation of cosmetic, high stability over time and high efficiency in the transport of the active to the target site.
Our liposomes are either unilamellar (with a single double membrane) and/or oligolamellar (with only very few double membranes). Because of this, the predominant mechanism of penetration into the cell is by fusion of membranes.
These features are only possible to obtain thanks to our own patented manufacturing method of liposomes, using microfluidization.
Our manufacturing method uses two stream of fluids. They interact at high speeds and pressures producing small and stable vesicles with a size within the range of nanometers.
